An activist of the organizing committee for creation of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party (BCD) Andrei Kasehuski protests against his arrest.
In this connection the oppositionist serving his administrative arrest has embarked on a hunger strike.
Andrei Kasheuski was detained on March 3 in the evening in Minsk metro. He was taken to the court of Leninski district where he was sentenced to 15 days of administrative arrest for alleged petty hooliganism, BelaPAN informs. At the moment the activist is in the prison in Akrestsin Street.
Andrei Kasheuski is engaged in distribution of independent newspaper “Narodnaya Volya”, however during the detention there were no newspapers with him.
The activist planned to run in the election to the city council of Zhodzina (Smalyavichy district, Minsk region). However because of the administrative arrest he won’t be able to submit signatures of citizens for his nomination as a candidate for deputy on time.
