Belarusian oppositionists arrested right in polling stations

In Rechytsa (Homel region) a candidate for deputy in Rechytsa industrial precinct number 3 Alyaksei Zmushko was detained.
As BelaPAN was informed by a co-chairman of the organising committee for "Belarusian Christian Democracy" party creation Paval Sevyarynets, Alyaksei Zmushko and his brother Kanstantsin, who is his agent, were detained in the polling station number 29. "As soon as they entered the polling station, a policeman blocked the entrance and stated that they are detained. It is not known why they had been detained," Sevyarynets said.
As said by him, even voters who wanted to cast a ballot in the local election, were not allowed to enter the polling station. "The work of the pollng station was completely blocked," Sevyarynets said.
An agent of the candidate for deputy Alyaksandr Lahvinets, a businessman Alyaksandr Taustyka, was detained on April 24 in the evening at a polling station number 27 of Sukhareuski election precinct number 30 in Minsk.
"Taustyka was observing the process of the early voting," Lahvinets said to BelaPAn. "When at 4.50 p.m. two persons entered the voting booth, he made a remark to the deputy chairperson of the commission, saying that this action contradicts the law".
As said by the presidential candidate, in 20 minutes the chairperson of the precinct election commission Axana Kokareva entered the room for voting, and started to accuse Taustyka of violation of public order and called in a police patrol.
"Taustyka stayed in the police department till 7 p.m., when he was invited to the corridor in presence of witnesses and detained. The petty hooliganism report howveer was drawn in at 6.30 p.m., when Taustyka observed the voting," Lahvinets said.
At the moment Taustyka stays in the centre of transgressors' isolation in Akrestsin Street. The trial is to take place on April 26.
"I believe that detention and accusation of my agent is a provocation by the chairperson of the precinct comission. They have done everything to imprison Taustyka," Lahvinets said.
