Pro-governmental candidates transferred from constituency to constituency

Dzmitry Mikhalevich, a candidate to Orsha city council, was registered in one constituency, but now he runs in elections in another constituency.

On March 25, the Orsha city election commission registered a chief engineer of building society #18 as a candidate in Stroitelny constituency #3, Radio Svaboda reports.

But a week later, the newspaper “Orshanskaya Gazeta” published an annex to the commission’s decision saying Dzmitry Mikhalevich runs in elections in Leninski constituency #5.

As local democratic activists think, such transfers are a gross violation of the electoral legislation. A possible reason for this is wrong calculations of the local authorities: two pro-governmental candidates were registered in Stroitelny constituency, so they had to be separated, Alyaksei Shutau, the head of the local branch of the BPF party, thinks.
