Bakiyev does not want to return, but urges to send CSTO troops to Kyrgyzstan

The escaped dictator of Kyrgyzstan has held a press-conference in Minsk, which was called “extraordinary”.

Kurmanbek Bakiyev believes that sending the peacekeepers of the CSTO could prevent further negative development of the events, “Interfax” informs.

“I see two ways out of this situation: to show common sense and sending peacekeeping forces,” Bakiyev said at the press- conference in Minsk.

“I see that the CSTO's Collective Operational Reaction Force could normalize the situation, and this should be done,” Bakiyev said.

As said by Bakiyev, after the seizure of power in Kyrgyzstan law-enforcing agencies were disspirited.

Bakiyev stated that the interim government is not able to control the social and economic situation in the country. “They boast they have 9% of the GDP growth. But we had 18% of the GDP growth in Q1,” Bakiyev said.

Answering the question about the whereabouts of his sons, Bakiyev said: “My sons are in hiding”.

Bakiyev addressed Alyaksandr Lukashenka with a request to offer humanitarian aid to the Kyrgyz people.

“Through you I would like to address Alyaksandr Lukashenka and ask him to offer the humanitarian aid to the Kyrgyz people, and not to the interim government,” Bakiyev stated.

Once again he addressed the leadership of the CSTO countries with a request intervene the situation in Kyrgyzstan. “Once again I want to appeal to the leaders of the CSTO countries and ask them to respond the situation in Kyrgyzstan more promptly and adequately and to help the people who live in Kyrgyzstan, to restore the order,” Bakiyev said.

He also underlined that he does not plan to return to Kyrgyzstan. “Rumours are spread that I want to return to Kyrgyzstan. I do not have such thoughts at all,” he said. Bakiyev called upon the head of the interim government of Kyrgyzstan Roza Otunbayeva “stop making emotional statements and start attending to business”.
