Yarmoshyna: Presidential campaign to start no later than November 6

In a week the chairperson of the central election commission goes on vacation.
A presidential campaign in Belarus will start no later than 6 November 2010, the chairperson of the central election commission, Lidziya Yarmoshyna said today.
“As the presidential elections must be held before 6 February inclusive, the election campaign will start no later than 6 November,” she said.
Yarmoshyna noted that every presidential candidate must collect more than 100,000 signatures to get nominated. “For that, strong initiative groups of more than 100 people are needed,” the chairperson of the CEC said, BelTA informs.
As noted by the European Radio for Belarus, tomorrow “deputies” of the “chamber of representatives” will carry out the last meeting of the spring session and will have a vacation for two months, without appointing the date of the presidential elections. As some “parliamentarians”, Lidziya Yarmoshyna confirmed that the issue of the elections won’t be considered in these tow last days.
“No preparatory work has been carried out, and there are even no hints on the part of the chamber of representatives to that. Nothing at all has been agreed upon, and I know nothing,” the official said.
As the confirmation that the date of the elections would not be appointed in the near future, the CEC chairperson said that as for her, she goes on vacation since Monday.
