Judgements to bribetakers in Belarus pronounced publicly now

Judgements to corrupt officials in Belarus are pronounced in presence of their former colleagues now.

Interfax agency was informed about that by the Prosecutor General's office on Thursday.

"In the initiative of the prosecutor's office of Hrodna region a verdict to one of the former top officials of "Hrodnazhylbud" was announced in presence of hsi former colleagues," a representative of the office of Prosecutor General said.

"The visiting session of the court where the verdict was announced for an official sentenced to 9 years of imprisonement for bribes was held in an assembly hall of "Hrodnazhylbud". Managers and experts of this entreprise were in the hall," the office of Prosecutor General reported.

It is not the only initiative of the prosecution bodies in Belarus aimed at prevention of corruption crimes among officials.

As the agency infiormed earlier, last year on the initiative of the General Prosecutor Office Belarusian officials were invited to excursions to correctional facilities for prevention of crimes.

Earlier the agency informed that Prosecutor General of Belarus Ryhor Vasilevich, making a speech at a conference on issues of improvement of work of law enforcing, control and other state agencies, related to prevention, exposing and suppression of corruption crimes, noted a necessity of openness and publicity in the corruption control. "Every fact of conviction for corruption shoud become public," Prosecutor General said.

He added that "not a single civil servant has been still shown at cleaning manure by a manurer fork at a farm".
