7

The 10th Russia-Germany forum “Petersburg Dialogue” starts today in Yekaterinburg.

As informed by Aide to Russian President Sergei Prikhodko, leaders of the two countries Dmitry Medvedev and Angela Merkel are to take part in the forum as well.

As said by Prikhodko, as quoted by Radio Mayak, beside other issues, Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel in her conversation with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev plans to raise the issue of Belarusian-Russian relations. In the first place she will be interested by the situation with Russian energy resources deliveries via Belarus.

Russia-Germany Forum Petersburg Dialogue was launched on the initiative of Vladimir Putin and Gerhard Schroeder. The name of the forum is connected with the name of Peter the Great, who “cut the window to Europe”. The aim of the event is rapprochement of the Russian and German societies, overcoming prejudices in perception of each other and further improvement of mutual understanding between Germany and Russia.
