A video footage of Alyaksandr Kazulin at this human rights forum appeared on the web (VIDEO CLIP COULD BE VIEWED HERE).
“My country is seriously ill. One person rules there, separation of powers absent, arbitrariness and violence are prevailing, rule of law has been trampled underfoot, the civil society is harshly cracked down, and almost all mass media are destroyed. We take the second position in the number of prisoners and in the growth of the military budget, in the taxes increase. Capital punishment is still used here. We take the 170th position out of 178 in the rating of happy countries and the first position in the rate of suicides. This inhuman regime brings Belarus to a deadlock, it warps lives of thousands and thousands of people. Together we must fight the dictatorship as an anomaly and an illness. A new presidential election is to take place in Belarus soon. Freedom-loving Belarusians won’t resign themselves to the last dictatorship of Europe, even if there would be its supporters and patrons in this strange and unpredictable world. Changes in Belarus are around the corner,” the politician stated.
