Import of Russian and Ukrainian beer will be prohibited in Belarus

98

The share of import beer at the inner market is being planned to lower down to 5% from the present 30%.

This was said by the Chairman of “Belgospischeprom” Concern Ivan Danchenka on Tuesday at the Presidium meeting of the Council of Ministers, at which the totals of the realization of the program of the development of brewing branch for 2006-2010 years were discussed, “Interfax-West” informs.

“The goal for the next five years – development of enterprises capacities, increase of export and decrease of import down to 5% of the inner market volume from the present 30%”, - he said.

As a variant of lowering the import, “Belgospischeprom” suggests to include beer into the balance of “the Union state” of Belarus and Russia, leveling thus the volume of import-export beer from RF.

Besides, the Concern considers it reasonable to introduce licensing of import beer from Ukraine. This will allow, in I. Danchenka’s opinion, to suspend the import of beer of the Ukrainian companies that are not willing to undertake price obligations and continue to deliver beer to Belarus at dumping prices.
