The Head of UE “Brestoblsayuzdruk” Vasily Mareika lowered by two thirds, in unilateral manner, the order for printed copies of “Brest courier”.
This was reported by the chief editor of “Brest courier” Mikalai Alyaksandrau in his article at the BAJ site.
According to the editor of the periodical, the Head of UE “Brestoblsayuzdruk” decided to “punish” in such a manner the staff of the newspaper for searching unauthorized ways of the distribution of the periodical.
“By no means, we intended to discontinue the partnership with “Brestoblsayuzdruk” while solving the issues of realization and finding other alternatives. Our contractual relations with other trade networks of Brest are due to the fact that, thanks to them the newspaper arrives to its readers on the day it is printed at the printing house. And “Brestoblsayuzdruk” usually delivers our editions to its sales outlets next day only”, - notes Alyaksandrau.
In this case, the editor of “Brest courier” supposes, it turned out that Mareika acted as a kind of “censor”, limiting the access to information for a considerable number of readers. The attempts to solve this issue by way of negotiations were not a success.
