Belarusian tennis player Viktoriya Azarenka won a victory over Russia’s Maria Sharappova who has Belarusian roots.

Viktoriya Azarenka (18 place in world rating) won representation tournament in Stanford (California, USA) with the prize fund of 700 thousand dollars, informs BelaPAN.

On August, 1 Azarenka who became 21 the day before beat the Russian Maria Sharapova (15) in two sets — 6:4, 6:1 in the final match. The match continued 1 hour 27 minutes.

Statistics of the meeting: aces — 1:5 (for benefit of Sharapova), double-errors— 3:3, percent of the benefit of the first giving — 61:51, second giving — 57:20, break points — 6/11 : 2/6.

Belarusian tennis player won the fourth tournament in her career in single playing. First three titles were won in 2009 (in Brisben, Memphis and Miami).
