Lukashenka has not congratulated Roza Otunbayeva on Independence Day

7

The Belarusian ruler cannot overcome himself and recognize the new authorities of Kyrgyzstan.

Yesterday Kyrgyzstan celebrated the 19th anniversary of its independence. Many telegrams of congratulations have been sent to the president of the country by colleagues presidents of other countries: from Tajikistan president Emomali Rakhmonov to Polish president Bronislaw Komarowski. But there is no Belarusian president on this list.

One could attribute that to forgetfulness of Alyaksandr Lukashenka, but the press-service of the ruler informed yesterday that he “had congratulated the leader of Malaysia Mizan Zainal Abidin and the nation of the country on the national holiday, the Independence Day”.

Maybe a different conclusion could be made: Kyrgyzstan is an unfriendly country to us, and so there is no sense to congratulate them? It is not so. Scanning through archives of Lukashenka’s press-service, a correspondent of UDF.BY website found greetings of Lukashenka on the Independence Day to Kyrgyzstan president Kurmanbek Bakiyev from the last year.

- Alyaksandr Lukashenka noted that relations between Belarus and Kyrguzstan are build upon the basis of friendship and mutual understanding. “I am sure that mutual efforts on expanding the bilateral cooperation would contribute to further flourishing of our countries,: the press-service write a year ago.

In fact everything is simple. After offering an asylum to the ousted head of the Asian country Kurmanbek Bakiyev, Alyaksandr Lukashenka cannot surmount himself and recognize the new authorities of Kyrgyzstan.

A political analyst Raman Yakauleuski told that there is nothing strange in greetings to the head of Malaysia: “Lukashenka congratulated unknown leaders before as well. It is required by the protocol”.

As said by him, “absence of congratulations (not with a birthday) on the state holiday of Kyrgyzstan simply aggravates the situation of Lukashenka with his support of the escaped president Bakiyev. Otunbayeva took part as a full-fledged member in the recent summit of the Collective Security Treaty organization, which chairman the head of Belarus is to become in December”. That is why “ignoring the current president of Kyrgyzstan is simply unproductive,” Yakauleuski underlined.
