Defence Ministry: There were no Belarusian military in Libya

Belarusian military allegedly had not taken part in the war in Libya.

It was stated by Major General Alyaksandr Anisimau (Alexander Anisimov), Official Secretary and Aide to the Belarusian Defense Minister at a press-conference in Minsk.

Answering the question of Radio Svaboda, whether Belarusian military had taken part in operations in Libya, he said: “No, they hadn’t.”

He added: “How can you imagine Belarusian military, whose presence is checked in our country every day, to go and stay abroad?”

As said by Anisimau, once he was the chief of the Military Counterintelligence Service of Belarus.

“I know all retirees having adventurous nature, and who could have gone to Libya in some way, perfectly well. However, all of them are in Belarus. So I can tell you confidently once again that Belarusian military had not taken part in military operations in Libya.”
