Mass insanity in Homel. Queues to ATMs

Homel residents stood in long queues to ATMS to withdraw cash in the evening on March 19.

50 to 60 people stood in queues to ATMs on Homel central streets.

People were telling rumours to one another that cash machines will withdraw only 60,000 per day from May 20. Exactly this sum was mentioned in all talks. Some ATMs, for example, in Savetskaya and Peramohi Streets, did not give out cash.

Asked by a BelaPAN correspondent about an information source, people said their relatives and friends had told them. They also were phoning their friends and relatives calling on them to withdraw cash.

At the same time, people rush to buy in salt and sugar amid rumours about possible price growth and disappearance of these products from stores.
