SHOS bike ride banned in Minsk

An ecological bike ride and energy saving fest were banned in Minsk due to opposition supporters who planned to participate.

The event was to be held in Gorky Park on Tuesday. Users of social networking websites called t take part in the bike ride wearing t-shirts with a slogan SHOS. This joking opposition slogan is an abbreviated of the phrases “I wish he (Lukashenka) died” or “I wish he went to prison”.

As organizers say, the bike ride was banned because “some careless people” called participants of protests “Revolution by social networks” to take part in the event, Gazeta.Ru reports.

Silent protest actions have been held in Minsk and other Belarusian towns for the second month making Alyaksandr Lukashenka hurl threats to silent protesters. Participants of the two latest protest rallies were detained, fined and sentenced to administrative arrests.
