The first sober bus route will appear in September.
Bus passengers in Navapolatsk will be able to hear anti-alcohol lectures. The idea of “sober routes” was proposed by head of the city executive committee Natallya Kachanava, the committee’s ideological department informs. Local doctors are to prepare texts of lectures and define the best duration of blocks of information and intervals between them, “Komsomolskaya Pravda v Belarusi” writes.
In additions to anti-alcohol lectures, it is planned to “scare” passengers with statistics. People will be given information about the number of people died from alcohol, in road accidents, fires and other emergency situations caused by people misusing alcohol.
A decision to create “sober routes” was taken at the first city people’s meeting, which focused on the problem of excessive drinking. Participants of the meetings also offered other measures: for example, to make the wall of disgrace at work, in residential districts, nearest shops and at educational establishments to put there photos of alcoholics.
