Authorities hide meningitis epidemic in Homel?

The disease outbreak was caused by contaminated water.
A Homel dweller said the news to charter97.org on conditions of anonymity. He says there is an epidemic in several Homel districts, but the city authorities hide this.
“My daughter is in hospital diagnosed with meningitis. There is an epidemic in Homel, but no one says anything. Most cases of the disease occurred in Navabelitsa city district. People say it is due to bad drinking water,” a city dweller informs.
“Parents of children in hospital say they became ill after they drank tap water. They vomited and body temperature rose in the morning. Drinking water has always been bad in Navabelitsa district, but this is totally out of line. Everyone knows that this city district takes water from the river, which is highly polluted. The local thermal power station releases its waste water into the river. Black slurry is being poured into the river 24 hours a day. Later this water gets to people’s kitchens,” the father of an ill child notes.
“No one cares. The water service company economizes on people’s health. Water was literally poisoned with chloride during the seasonal flood last year. They seem to save on filtration. People rushed to buy water filters,” the man says.
“After that residential property prices in the district with underground water supply went up,” the man added.
