Another charge being trumped-up against Ulasevich

Police came to the Astravets UCP activist, former parliamentary candidate Mikalai Ulasevich, on 1 October.

As it appeared, they came in order to compose a protocol on “illegal insubordination to the legitimate claim of an official”.

He is being accused of allegedly violation the law 10 days ago, the United Civic Party’s press-service informs.

We would remind, thatbefore the elections on 21 September police detained Mikalai Ulasevich for “the dissemination of illegal propaganda”. They kept him at a police station for three hours composing a questioning protocol and body searching the activist based on the sanction by the district prosecutor A. Martsinchyk. Then they searched his car and confiscated 116 ballots of the “Legal assistance to citizens” with the text his radio and television appeal to the voters. The search continued n his house till very late at night. There they confiscated 72 agitation leaflets of the UCP “For free elections without Lukashenka”. Ulasevich asked for the copies of all the sanctions for the searches, but inly received a copy of the body search protocol.

- Today I refused both to sign and to participate in the protocol composition as the “insubordination” happened on 21 Septebmer, - Mikalai Ulasevich told. – Why didn’t they compose the protocol on the day of my detention?! I was at the police station in the morning. I wanted to get the documents for the case of September 21st to file an appeal. They won’t give those to me. The person was not there. He appeared there only in the evening but decisively refused to provide the documents. A charge is being trumped-up.
