Belarus's main Jew to stand trial December 10

On December 10, the court of the Tsentralny district of Minsk begins hearing of the criminal case against Yuri Dorn, the head of the Jewish Religious Community of Belarus.

“The first hearing in the criminal case is scheduled for 10 a.m. December 10,” Interfax-West news agency learnt from the Tsentralny district court of Minsk.

As the agency reported earlier with a link to the Investigation Committee, the investigation of the criminal case against Yuri Dorn was completed in the middle of September. He was charged with violation of 7 articles of the Criminal Code, the Investigation Committee said.

Dorn is accused of violating part 3 of article 430 (accepting a bribe), parts 1, 2 and 3 of article 426 (abuse of power), part 2 of article 243 (tax avoidance), part 3 of article 377 (stealing or damaging documents, stamps and seals) and part 1 of article 427 (forgery by an official), the Investigation Committee reports.

The Investigation Committee initiated a criminal case against Dorn over part 3 of article 430 (accepting a bribe). Dorn was detained. It was revealed that being an official responsible for management, organizational and administrative functions, Dorn accepted more than $13,000 for signing an agreement on the lease of non-residential premises belonging to the religious association, the Investigation Committee informs.
