Political prisoner Frantskevich in punishment cell again

Political prisoner Frantskevich in punishment cell again

Alyaksandr Frantskevich has been thrown into the punishment cell for the third time this year.

The information was spread by Tatyana Frantskevich, the mother of the imprisoned anarchist. She says Alyaksandr Frantskevich was placed into the punishment cell for 10 days for failure to fulfil orders of the staff of the Ivatsevichy penal colony and clean the territory of the prison. This kind of work is considered to be insulting among prisoners. Alyaksandr was thrown into the disciplinary cell in August for the same reason and in November for refusal to visit the scheduled event in prison, Radio Racyja reports.

Tatyana Frantskevich, the mother of the political prisoner, explains the recent events by pressure on her son by the prison authorities. She worries Frantskevich may have problems with health in the punishment cell, because he has only one kidney.

Alyaksandr Frantskevich was sentenced to three years in prison in May 2011. He was charged with “arson of administrative buildings and hacking the website of the Navapolatsk city executive committee”. He didn't admit his guilt. He serves his sentence in medium security penal colony “Volchy Nory” in Ivatesvichy. Human rights activists recognise Frantskevich as political prisoner and demand his immediate release.
