Former riot police commander appointed deputy interior minister

The dictator relieved Mayor General Valery Haidukevich of his duties as deputy interior minister.

Interfax-West news agency learnt it from the press service of Lukashenka.

“Mayor General Valery Haidukevich was relieved of his duties and transferred to the reserve due to his age with the right to wear military uniform and insignia,” the press service reports.

Colonel Yury Karayeu has been appointed new deputy interior minister.

He was born in North Ossetia. Karayeu was the commander of the Minsk riot police, commander of the police brigade in Homel, commander of the police battalion in Babruisk and commander of the battalion in notorious military unit No. 3214. Yury Karayeu graduated from Frunze Academy of General Staff in 1996.

He participated in numerous operations to suppress opposition rallies and was in charge of dispersals of peaceful rallies in Minsk.
