Belarus's Property Management Directorate starts year of frugality with purchase of 4 limousines

Four cars Mercedes Benz S 500 L will cost the country 6.5 billion rubles.

It is more than 760,000 dollars.

This is the sum the state vehicle organisation Beltransspecavto at the  Property Management Directorate of the President of the Republic of Belarus is ready to spend on purchasing four Mercedes Benz S 500 L or similar cars.

The tender was announced on December 14 for one month. The cars are expected to appear in garages in the first half of 2013.

The purchase is financed from the government funds.

It should be reminded that Alyaksandr Lukashenka declared the year 2013 as the year frugality. The presidential press service notes the year of frugality will develop the strategy of economising as the main factor of economic security of the country.

Speaking about the initiative at Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, Lukashenka said: “You think we will economize on you, on people's incomes. It's not true. We will economise to make you richer.”
