Abuse of political prisoners continues.
A session of the Pardon Commission under Lukashenka, which among other things was to consider the issue of the so-called pardon of the presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov and his agent Zmitser Bandarenka.
Back in mid February the deputy chairman of the commission, the head of the citizenship and pardon department of Lukashenka’s administration Alyaksandr Kisyalyou made it clear that the issue of “pardoning” Sannikov and Bandarenka is to be considered at the next session.
The session of the commission has been held, bur there is no new information about Sannikov and Bandarenka’s fate so far.
Meanwhile, a source close to the country’s top leadership, told TUT.by portal, which has recently become a platform for numerous official “leaks” and “refutations”, that such a long consideration of this issue could be explained by a necessity to carefully check the statements by mass media, that the petitions had been written as a result of torture. “In order to make a decision, it should be proven that Sannikov had written a petition of his own accord,” an anonymous source said ironically.
