CE Secretary General to discuss “Belarusian issue” with Russian leadership

Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland is to visit Moscow on a working visit.

He is to hold talks with the Russian leadership, and to take part in the international conference “The Euroatlantic community of security: myth or reality”, which is to open on March 23.

As RIA Novosti was told at the press-service of the Kremlin, a short meeting of Thorbjørn Jagland with Russian president Dmitry Medvedev is planned.

It is also planned that the head of the Council of Europe is to meet with the Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov.

As an officer of the Council of Europe’s staff informed, during his stay in Russia, “the Secretary General is sat to discuss vital issues, including the situation in Belarus.”
