A human rights activist held a protest rally near the Embassy of Belarus with a demand to extradite Kurmanbek Bakiyev.

“This time it is a termless protest, it is to continue until Kurmanbek Bakiyev extradited to our country. On what grounds have Alyaksandr Lukashenka given Bakiyev citizenship of Belarus? According to Minsk Convention, he was to extradite the runaway president to Kyrgyzstan immediately,” a human rights activist Ondurush Toktonasyrov said in an interview to K-News.

The human rights activist believes that the trial over the events of April 2010, when mass opposition rallies took place in the country, is not over until Kurmanbek Bakiyev returned and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

“Neither the government nor the parliament have ever made attempts to extradite the former president. As if everyone has forgotten what happened on April 7, 2010. And now it is declared Revolution Day, but I believe the revolution is not over, it is to continue until the guilty ones not punished,” Ondurush Toktonasyrov concluded.

On April 7, 2010 mass opposition protests were held in Kyrgyzstan, and it caused overthrow of Kurmanbek Bakiyev. At Ala-Too, the central square of Bishkek, 86 persons were killed, several hundreds were injured. Now the ex-president and some of his relatives stay in Belarus. The General Prosecutor’s Office of Kyrgyzstan has sent a request for extradition of the former head of the state twice, but was rejected twice.
