Yarashuk got under “road-roller” of official trade unions

The campaign of condemnation against democratic activists who call upon imposing economic sanctions is rocking Belneftekhim enterprises.

This time a statement has been held by the trade union of Polatsk-Shklovalakno joint stock company. At the extended session of the trade union’s presidium, where representatives of all shop floor committees, denounced the statement of the chairman of the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions Alyaksandr Yarashuk that about a campaign of domestic goods boycott could be started by trade unions which are members of the Congress of Democratic Trade Unions.

Official trade unions have expressed categorical indignation, though they have not specified that in this way Alyaksandr Yarashuk planned to defend the rights of workers of “Granit” plant in Mikashevichy to be members of those trade union organization they choose, Narodnaya Volya writes.

“In case sanctions are adopted, we will lose customers not only in the European market, but in the countries of Asian region, as trade with them is carried out through banks in foreign currency (Euro). Such sanctions could result in total suspension of production, that is, about 4,500 persons could become unemployed, and their families – without means of support. Young people would be deprived an opportunity to find job, (and such opportunities in Polatsk are limited even without that), which can eventually result in a crisis in the society in general. In this connection, the position of some workers of our enterprise is especially surprising (members of the trade union SPB, which is a part of the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions are meant), who are trying to find excuses for the actions of their functionaries, who are ready to deprive people of their basic right, guaranteed by the Constitution, the right for labour, in order to serve their political convictions,” the statement reads.

The trade union of Polatsk-Shklovalakno decided to launch a large-scale campaign of condemnation against Alyaksandr Yarashuk and the trade union, the BCDTU, headed by him. for this end the trade union promises to use all available means: placing information at stands, publishing articles in the plant’s large-circulation newspaper Trudovaya smena, speeches of the heads of trade union branches at educational seminars and during the report campaign and so on.

In its turn, the presidium of Hrodna regional trade unions has adopted a statement, in which they ardently condemn the actions of a politician Viktar Ivashkevich. The most interesting thing is the formulation with which Hrodna regional trade unions support the actions of Mozyr dweller Maryna Tsybliyenka, who had filed a suit against Ivashkevich. According to them, “contempt to the law, propaganda of hate and discord should be punished. Viktar Ivashkevich and “protectors of the nation” like him, must know: they will answer for every action which results in undermining the economy of the state and well-being of the nation.”
