Chizh and Lithuanian company constructing a hypermarket in Minsk?

Chizh and Lithuanian company constructing a hypermarket in Minsk?

Construction of a big shopping and entertainment centre on the corner of Prytyski and Kuntsevshchyna Streets has begun in Minsk.

Dwellers of the city district say a large plot of land was dug over during some weeks and enclosed by a fence. There's has not been official information regarding who started the mysterious construction, “Nasha Niva” newspaper writes.

Under the investment plans of the Minsk city executive committee, a shopping and entertainment centre with an area of not less than 21,000 square metres is to be built here. It was expected to become the largest shopping centre in the capital. British BelWillesden was supposed to be an investor. The place for construction was alloted some years ago, but director of BelWillesden Oleg Baranovsky had to reject the promising place.

ProstoreMarket  belonging to Yury Chizh was named the next aspirant.

There's no construction certificate with information about a contractor. According to construction workers, the entertainment centre will belong to a Lithuanian network.

“Nasha Niva” reports the construction works are performed by Magnus Group, a company on the base of Lithuanian construction organizations and “Construction Administration”, a branch of Yury Chizh's TRIPLE group of companies.

Unlike other Chizh's companies hit by the EU sanctions, this one is still unsanctioned. The director of the company is Lithuanian Šarūnas Perminas while three deputy directors are Belarusians. By the way, Magnus Group regularly invites LIthuanians to work in Belarus.

Magnus Group was  involved in instruction of two ProStore hypermarkets, Rakauski Brovar restaurant, Lahoisk mountain ski centre all belonging to Chizh. As of construction projects, the company's list includes a shopping and entertainment centre near Minsk-Arena Complex, BATE stadium in Barysau and a 80,000 square metre shopping centre in Kamennya Horka Minsk city district.
