Trials over cases of “travel banned” people postponed

The court postponed pretrial hearing of Aleh Hulak's claim.

Questioning in the pretrial preparation of the claim of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee head Alek Hulak was to be held on April 6. Hulak prepares a claim over the ban to leave Belarus imposed on him, Viasna human rights centre reports.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice are defendants in the case.

A secretary of the Tsentralny district court of Minsk, where the trial will be held, told Aleh Hulak on April 4 the judge would be able to conduct the hearing on April 6 because she had reception hours.

The hearing was postponed sine die, Aleh Hulak says.

A lawyer of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee, Harry Pahanyaila, received a similar notice. The pretrial sitting over his case was to be held on April 18.
