Police afraid of “Free elections without Lukashenka”

Police officers visited every applicant for holding pickets of the United Civil Party (UCP) in Hrodna.

Policemen made them give written undertaking they would not participate in unauthorized events, the UCP press service reports.

The city executive committee and district administration, where applications were sent to, have not answered yet. “There have not been any replies. But police visited us as usual,” Alyaksandra Vasilevich says with a smile.

The United Civil Party filed over 70 applications for holding pickets with a slogan “Free elections without Lukashenka” on May 15. Neither of the executive committees has replied to the applications.
