Myanmar offers Belarus to participate in the development of deposits of gold, copper and tin.
According to the Council of Ministers of Belarus, the Belarusian side is provided with materials, identifying deposits of gold and copper in Shangalon area, as well as tin around Davey, for their potential exploration and development. The materials, submitted by Myanmar, are being worked out.
The Government of Belarus noted that the Belarusian governmental delegation, headed by Prime Minister Mikhail Miasnikovich, visited Myanmar in December last year. Then, from February 28 to March 6, 2012, a group of Belarusian experts, including from Belgorhimprom, stayed in Myanmar to determine the prospect of development and mining, BelTA informs.
Prior to June 15, 2012, Department of Geology at the Ministry of Natural Resources will provide the Government of Belarus with the analysis of geological prospects of the selected areas in Myanmar and the feasibility of commercial development of mineral deposits that may be discovered during the exploration work in this country.
According to the preliminary analysis, the potential area of Myanmar is rich in ore minerals, mentioned the Council of Ministers.
Since there are no complete and reliable data on proven oil fields, cooperation between Belarus and Myanmar in this area will continue in terms of search and exploration, reported the government. The results of exploration work will help to assess the feasibility of Belarus’ participation in the industrial development of the examined mineral deposits in Myanmar.
