Babrujsk activist charged with recruiting people for work in Russia

An activist of the United Civil Party is charged with agitation of people to leave for Russia for work on the grounds of an anonymous letter received by the city executive committee.

Babrujsk-based activist of the United Civil Party Valery Mikitko is charged with agitating for going to work in Russia. The activist learnt about that from an investigator who visited his working place, Radio Svaboda informs.

“She told me that I am carrying out agitation and recruit people for work in Russia. Her words shocked me. To my question what are the sources of such information, the investigator told that the city executive committee received a letter from workers of Legpromrazvitie JSC, and it was written about my activities there. She was sent to check the facts, which had been stated in the address allegedly. The investigator had not presented herself, but demonstrated the letter. There were no names or signatures in the address. It turns out that the city executive committee is carrying out investigation basing upon a libel,” he said.

The activist states that he had not agitating for people’s going to Russia for work.

As said by Mikitko, the conversation with the investigator took place in the office of his shop supervisor. The activist is worried that the management of the joint stock company may terminate the labour contract with him because of such visits.

“I have a contract for a year. I had been hinted already that it could be terminated. What do they need such a worker for, when ideology department workers and policemen visit me? The reason of all the fuss over that is my filing an application for holding a picket “For free election without Lukashenka”. It was not allowed. Hidden reefs could be expected anywhere in our country. I am going to prepare for the worse,” Valery Mikitko said.
