Belarusian Embassy discontented with Polish film about terrorist attack (Video)

Diplomats are asking to show BT film “Metro” in Poland.

The Embassy of Belarus voices strong protest on the occasion of showing a film “How justice looks like in Belarus” by TVN channel in “Superwizjer” program. The information presented in the film is a disastrous manipulation and has nothing to do with reality, the statement of the embassy reads, TUT.BY informs.

The embassy recommends to show on air of TVN the film of Belarusian journalists “Metro”.

The official comment of the management of the TV channel TVN, the major private TV channel in Poland, is to follow tomorrow, but as journalists who produced the film stress, “a thorough work had been taking place daily for two month.” The film was shown on May 8.

We remind that the mother of executed Uladzislau Kavalyou, Lyubou Kavalyova, with her daughter Tatsyana, returned from Poland to Belarus on May 20. They stayed there for a few days on an invitation of TVN channel. Polish TV has already demonstrated 2 films about the events related to the terrorist act in Minsk on April 11, 2011, and about the court over Dzmitry Kanavalau and Uladzislau Kavalyou. Journalists of the TV channel were by the side of Uladzislau’s mother when it became known that the execution of the death sentence had taken place.

During her trip to Poland the Kavalyous took part in live broadcasts, met with journalists and public. After the films were demonstrated, TVN journalists say, Kavalyova was recognized in the streets, people came up to her and expressed condolences. Simultaneously, collection of signatures under a petition to ban capital punishment in Belarus was taking place. Just over one day, May 14, 2,000 signatures were collected in just a few hours. 9,000 signatures were collected over a few days.
