Mikalai Dzemidzenka, a Young Front deputy head, was going to come to the detention centre in Akrestin Street today to serve the remaining three days of his term in custody.
He said this to journalists and friends. According to Dzemidzenka, he even phoned the detention centre to ask when he should appear. They replied they would wait for him.
But the law enforcement bodies were faster. At 4:30 pm, a minibus with tinted windows took Dzemidzenka to the detention centre, Young Front website reports.
Dzemidzenka must serve three days in custody. He was detained for 15 days on May 27, but he was later taken from the detention facility to hospital, where “he was guarded not by convoy, but by an ordinary policeman”, police say.
Mikalai Dzemidzenka is expected to be released on June 1, but he does not rule out he may stay in jail longer, as other Young Front activists, whose terms in custody were extended.
