The first round of “parliamentary election” will cost 9 million dollars.

Cost of the electoral campaign for the “house of representatives” of the “national assembly” of Belarus will be Br92.9 billion.

According to Interfax-Zapad news agency, the sum was approved by the ruling of the Central Election Commission (CEC) at a meeting in Minsk on Tuesday.

As CEC accountant Valyantina Vasileuskaya says, more than Br76 billion is expected to be allocated for the first round and over Br16 billion for the second round of the election.  She stressed the first round of the 2008 campaign  cost “the same $9 million”.

The Central Election Commission has appointed the schedule today. A procedure of proposing candidates will be held from July 15 to August 13.

CEC head Lidzia Yarmoshyna did not forget to blame European officials of the dishonest Belarusian election.

The negative assessment of the Belarusian elections is prepared by specially trained officials and has nothing in common with international observers, she says.

“Negative assessments are composed in the still of offices not by direct observers of elections, but by a group of officials, who perform  these particular functions and don't observe elections,” Yarmoshyna said.

The CEC head said Belarus would invite OSCE observers.
