Vasily Parfyankou: I hope I will remain at liberty

A political prisoner appeals against the court decision and counts on amnesty.

Vasily Parfyankou was tried last week again, Nasha Niva newspaper informs. He was sentenced to 6 months in jail. The judgement has not come into force and he has not been taken into custody. Vasily hopes he won't be thrown behind bars.

“We will appeal against the judgement. I hope my case will fall within the law on amnesty.”

The ground for a new criminal case was violation of the rules of preventive surveillance. Parfyankou, who was placed under surveillance in January, was out two times (went to a store) when police came to check him. He was also late for a check one time. Was it possible to avoid the violations?

“It was difficult not to commit them,” Vasily says. “It is impossible to stay at home from 8:00 pm till morning. I am young. I have a lot of things to do.”

The political prisoner has been looking for job for almost a year since the release.

“Nobody wanted to employ me, because I have a criminal record for the post-election protests. Everybody said they didn't need problems.”

He asks to write him letters if he is thrown into jail. He says it is the most important support in prison.
