Makei replaced Martynau

Aliaksandr Lukashenka dismissed Siarhei Martynau from the post of foreign minister.

Official reason - in connection with his transfer to another job.

Dictator appointed Uladimir Makei to the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs, freeing him from the post of head of the presidential administration.

For Uladimir Makei, as the head of Lukashenka's administration, transfer to the post of foreign minister is actually a reduction, not a promotion. A question remains, who will lead the administration of the Belarusian dictator?

Recall, after the brutal dispersal of Square in December 2010 and deployment of repression against the opposition, Uladimir Makei was included by the Council of Europe in the list of persons that are subject to EU sanctions. Along with him to the "black list" got the former Minister of Foreign Affairs Siarhei Martynau, which supposed to remain a "channel of communication" between Lukashenka and the West. European officials have previously stated that sanctions are personal. For example, they continue to act against the judges, issuing unfair sentences, even after their retirement. It is not clear, whether the newly made foreign Minister remain in the "black list" of the EU.
