Zingeris: The Belarusian regime hasn’t changed

The fact that the Belarusian authorities didn’t grant the visas to the OSCE observers is outstanding and tells that nothing has changed in the neighboring country.

The head of the International Affairs Committee of the Lithuania parliament Emanuelis Zingeris, who is now in Ignalina on a work trip, commented on him not getting a Belarusian visa, Delfi.lt reports.

“This shows that the regime hasn’t changed. Shows a selective approach to the decision making on whom to allow in the country and whom not to let in. The regime, unfortunately, continues its previous policy”, told Zingeris.

The Lithuanian politician was surprised to find that out from the media.

According to Zingeris, he was denied a visa many times “because of his statements about the nature of the Alexander Lukasheka regime”.

“This shows, to what extent the Belarusian regime is sensitive to the human rights issues. I think, while this regime exists, I, unfortunately, will not be able even to visit the graves of my ancestors in Lida”, - he assumes.

A Belarusian visa was denied to the OSCE’s Parliamentary Assembly observers Emanuelis Zingeris (Lithuania) and Mary Louise Beck (Germany).
