Yarmoshyna wants money to be returned

The head of the Central Election Commission (CEC) says the parties, which withdrew their candidates from the “election”, will be obliged through a court to give back the money they received for printing election materials.

“We are likely to have legal actions to recover the expenses for printed materials to the republican fund from the political parties that withdrew from the election,” Lidzia Yarmoshyna said in a press conference in Minsk on Sunday, Interfax news agency reports.

She stressed: “The parties should compensate for the money given by the state for printing materials. The withdrawal of candidates of two political parties didn't cause any big technical problems.” “The names of withdrawn candidates have 'withdrawn' marks in ballot papers. It wasn't hard to do this,” Yarmoshyna said adding that 66 candidates from two political parties (31 and 35 candidates from each party) have withdrawn.
