Mikita Likhavid: If they want to put me in jail – they will take me right out of the house

“If I have to spent 10 days in jail, I will not hide”, - a former political prisoner Mikita Likhavid stated in an interview to charter97.org.

“I do not know the details of this case yet. I will go to court tomorrow to clarify the circumstances. They only told me at police that there is no statute of limitations for the cases like that. So I will not be surprised if they will ask me to serve these 10 days in twenty years.

I would note that such a case does not apply only to me, the district police inspector received 11 of such resolutions in our district. Those are just bureaucratic procedures. If there was an intention to put me in jail, they would have come to my house and taken me. In any case, 10 days are not 10 years”, - the activist said.

We would remind, that the police of Minsk Pershamajski district demanded that the former political prisoner spent 10 days of administrative arrest for participating in the meeting on 19 December 2010.

On 20 December 2010 Likhavid was punished for participating in the meeting with 15 days of arrest, but on 25 December he was transferred to a jail on a criminal accusation, according to which he was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison. Likhavid was released pre-term in September 2011.
