Dzmitry Bandarenka: An economic crisis provokes aggression

8

The political and economic position of our country provokes the intensification of the feelings of instability and anxiety.

A former political prisoner, a coordinator of the European Belarus civic campaign Dzmitry Bandarenka stated that in an interview to the Belsat TV channel.

The Minsk resident, who committed suicide and killed a policeman, survived several economic crises, the politician emphasized, which undoubtedly influenced his mental condition.

Bandarenka said unprofessional actions of the policemen to be the reason for the policeman’s death and the citizen’s suicide. “They should have immediately sent a seizure party”, - he pointed out.

The former political prisoner believes that the unprofessionalism of police comes from the top: the changes in the top management of special services affect negatively the level of professional preparation of policemen in Belarus.

“Police deals with political cases, it is set on that by the dictator, and the professional level decreases”, - Bandarenka emphasized. Compared to the officials of the special services from the neighboring countries, he noted, our policemen has the lowest salaries, which influences the outflow of the professional personnel from the services.

“The Belarusian opposition has chosen the way of non-violent resistance, and on that basis will we stand. If the political situation changes, the pressure disappears, the sluices go open, then the level of the civic tension will decrease”, - Dzmitry Bandarenka believes.
