Belavia resumes flights to Egypt

The national airline Belavia has resumed charter flights to Egypt, BelTA learnt from the company’s press service.

The national air carrier relaunches flights to Hurghada on 18 October and Sharm el-Sheikh on 20 October. Flights will be operated on Boeing-737/300 aircraft.

“The suspension of flights was the last resort. We and the tour operator that orders charter flights had to do it for the safety of our citizens,” Director General of Belavia Anatoly Gusarov said. The decision to recommence flights was made jointly with the tour operator (Tez Tour) after the situation in the resort areas of Egypt had normalized.

On 15 August the Belarusian Foreign Ministry advised Belarusian nationals against travelling to Egypt until the situation there improves. At the end of August Belavia suspended charter flights to Hurghada and Sharm el Sheikh.
