Trade union website covering hunger strike in Mozyr blocked

Spam is being sent from the hacked account.

The trade union website www.praca-by.info has been blocked. The site covered the hunger strike of the leaders of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union (BITU) at the Mozyr refinery.

The last message from the website calling to support the protesting activists appeared on the morning of October 17. The site was then hacked and blocked.

“A representative of the hosting company called yesterday evening and said the account was hacked. The site was sending spam, so it was blocked until the problem is solved,” website editor Natallia Pichuzhkina told Salidarnasts.

She doesn't rule out the possibility that the attack was caused by covering the hunger strike in Mozyr.

“I cannot say for sure that it was the result of a deliberate attack on praca-by.info. We are working to figure it out,” Natallia Pichuzhkina said. “Taking into account the fact that the site covers the hunger strike of trade union leader Yury Shvets and Vasily Alkhouski at the Mozyr refinery, I don't rule out this possibility. I sent news in English with active hyperlinks to the site calling to support the protesters, and the website was blocked after that.”

We remind that the leaders of the trade union primary organisation at the Mozyr refinery demand to stop illegal actions in relation to BITU activists, invite independent specialists to carry out an inquiry into five cases of firing plant employees and lift disciplinary sanctions from them.
