Minsk international women’s club of ambassadors’ spouses holds Christmas charity fair

The Minsk international women’s club of spouses of ambassadors, diplomats and representatives of foreign organizations has held a traditional Christmas charity fair.

Taking part in the fair were representatives of about 40 embassies and international organizations, said Natalia Sukhovetskaya, the spouse of the counselor of Ukraine’s Embassy in Belarus, Vice President of the club, founder and member of the creative society Art Diplomacy in Belarus. Preparations for the event began long before wintertime. Everyone worked hard in order to present the entire variety of national goods and these efforts were rewarded as numerous guests who visited the charity fair were amazed by souvenirs, goods and dishes of national cuisines of various countries. Spouses of ambassadors, diplomats and representatives of foreign organizations acted in the capacity of sellers at the fair. They told the guests about national traditions and peculiarities of their countries’ folk craft which was also presented at the fair.

The fair proceeds will be used for charity purposes, including for Christmas and New Year presents for the elderly and children in the orphanages and hospitals sponsored by the club, Natalia Sukhovetskaya noted.

The Minsk international women’s club works to support the needy. The organization has established close ties with medical institutions, homes for the elderly and orphanages in both the capital and other Belarusian cities.
