19 Belarusian companies on ICIJ database

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) has released the database of holders of offshore accounts in the British Virgin Islands.

The database includes information from two big offshore service firms – Portcullis TrustNet (Singapore) and Commonwealth Trust Limited (the British Virgin Islands) – for more than a decade. The united database containing names of tens of thousands of real offshore accounts holders has been made public on the website offshoreleaks.icij.org

The joint project of ICIJ and Vedomosti newspaper (Russia) revealed that hundreds of Russians, among them officials, top managers of state companies, the Duma members and their relatives, are in the database.

Charter97.org searched the database and found a few companies owned by Belarusian citizens.

The database returns 19 entities and 28 Belarusian addresses to the request Belarus. Many of the companies are interrelated. Addresses and names are repeated.

The information about certain offshore accounts holders, whose names are widely known in Belarus, is below. We are not sure they are exactly the persons well known in Belarus, but some coincidences don't look accidental.

Aleksandr Metla registered Interforest Corp at V.Horyzhej 16 Apt 148 in Minsk.

The director of the charity fund to support international soldiers “Memory of Afghanistan”, a close friend of Viktar Sheiman, has the same name. There is also INTERFOREST company in Navapolatsk. Any links between the companies were not discovered.

Igor Tcherny registered several companies, including Norcross Industrial Ltd., Normington Ventures Ltd., Norcross Aliance Inc. Volha Kisialiova is a partner is some of his firms.

Igor Tcherny is the name of a big Belarusian businessman and owner of IZOBUD company. Volha Kisialiova is a member of the board of directors of the company.

DICSA Law Technologies Limited has the record number of branches. The company has links to Belinda Lanyon.
