The Pope is solidary with those who are suffering in Belarus

The Pope Francis claimed his sympathy to Belarusian people.

The press-service of the Roman Catholic Church in Belarus reported about that after the meeting between an apostolic nuncio Claudio Guggerotti and the Pope.

“The pontiff asked to send his solidarity and big sympathy to Belarus, and particularly those, who are suffering, and also expressed hope that with the help of the Holy See the relations of the country with the West will Improve via respect, dialogue and mutual understanding”, - they noted in the press-service of the Roman Catholic Church.

During the meeting the Pope also noted that he was very glad to express his solidarity with Belarus by the means of a gesture of special attention – sending a cardinal Jean-Louie Toran to the country as an ambassador extraordinary for the festivities in Budslau. “The pontiff promised that he would pray for the successful fulfillment of the cardinal’s mission. His Holiness sent his blessing to the Catholics of Belarus, whom he knows as loyal, faithful and full of enthusiasm children of the Catholic Church after the great ordeals of the past. The Pope also asked to send regards to all Belarusians and especially to the brothers from the Orthodox Church”, - they stated at the Roman Catholic Church.

A Pope’s envoy cardinal Jean-Louie Toran on 5-6 July will take part in the festivities on the occasion of 400th anniversary of the arrival of the icon of the Mother of God of Budslau.
