Municipal deputy stole construction materials

A former member of Klimavichy municipal council Siarhiej Aukhimienka was fined for 30 basic units.

He was found guilty of violating part 1 of the article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (theft by the means of power abuse), the web-site of the human rights center Viasna reports.

On 16 January 2013 law enforcement officers detained Siarhiej Aukhimienka, who was a member of Klimavichy district council of the 26th convocation.

In the course of the court’s proceedings it was established that Siarhiej Aukhimienka, who worked as the deputy head of a building organization Klimavichy PMK-256, in November 2012 ordered a subordinate not to take the stock of the surplus of the goods and materials, left after the construction, and illegally seized the enterprise’s property for the total amount of 21 696 563 roubles. A citizen or Russia, who introduced himself as Dmitry, suggested that he bought the building materials from Siarhiej Aukhimienka. As the car had been loaded and the money paid in the amount of 92 000 Russian roubles, Siarhiej Aukhimienka was detained by police.

The defendant completely acknowledged his guilt of committing the crime and compensated for the damage caused.

Considering this and a number of other extenuations, the court of Klimavichy district ruled to punish extenuation with the deprivation of the right to take administrative and managerial positions and a fine of 30 basic units.

It should be noted that Siarhiej Aukhimienka’s name has disappeared from the list of the members of Klimavichy district council of the 26th convocation, published on the local district executive committee’s web-site.
