Minsk metro was stopped due to smokescreen

The metro did not function for 30 minutes today.

The communication was restored only by 1.30 p.m., however the trains in the first line only went until the Maskouskaja station. It was open only an hour later.

The reason the metro was stopped and the passengers evacuated was the smokescreen in the Uschod station. Users of social networks were first to report about it.

An electric board in the tunnel near the Minsk metro station Vostok has shortcircuited, twitted Press Secretary of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry Vitaly Novitsky.

All the people have been evacuated from the station, none is showing signs of poisoning with combustion products, said Vitaly Novitsky.

In his words, the operation of the first line of the Minsk metro is getting back to normal. The Oktyabrskaya station has been opened for passengers.

“The smoke at the metro station Vostok has been caused by a shortcircuited electric board. Transportation will be restored soon,” twitted Vitaly Dembovsky, Aide to the Chief of the Minsk City Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry.
