Belarus Information Ministry now headed by admirer of censorship in China

The news has been received from the Information Ministry of Belarus.

We remind that yesterday Lukashenka relieved Aleh Pralyaskouski of his post of the Information minister. The reason for this personnel decision has not been revealed.

Liliya Ananich was born in 1960 in the village of Lyavonava, Barysau district. From 1982 to 1984 she was a photo reporter of the local newspaper “Road to Communism” (Shlyakh Kamunizmu). From 1984 to 1992 she worked as an editor, and then the senior editor of the Scientific and Research Institute of Automation Devices in Minsk. From 1992 to 1996 she was an editor, chief specialist, deputy head of the mass media department of the Ministry of Culture and Press. Since May 1996 till November 2001 she was a deputy chief, chief of the information and analytical department of the State Committee of Belarus on the Press. From November 2001 to November 2003 she was a deputy Minister of Information of Belarus. Since December 2003 she was the First Deputy Minister of Information of Belarus.

In 2008 Ananich proposed to introduce an obligatory registration of online media outlets in Belarus.

According to her, a problem of “flows of deceptive information from foreign websites” exists in Belarus. “But there is experience of China, which has blocked access to such websites from its territory,” Ananich stated.
