Belarusian Steel Plant suspends work

27

Workers of the Belarusian Steel Plant (BMZ) are on holiday until January 12.

Charter97.org learnt it from a worker.

“BMZ has stopped work in Zhlobin. The staff received an order to go on holiday with payment of 2/3 of their salary. Only the melting and casting shops continue working,” the source said.

BMZ workers sent us an order “On taking urgent measures”, which says that the reason for suspending work is the government's decision that makes companies sell 50% of their foreign currency earnings beginning December 20.

The plant suspends all payments, except for urgent ones and those relating to the production support.

The order was signed by BMZ director Anatoli Savianok.
