Belarusians called to send appeals to Putin

The Belarusian committee of solidarity with Ukraine calls on people to join a campaign of solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

Members of the organising committee offer to record video appeals to Russian president Vladimir Putin urging to stop military aggression against Ukraine and post them on the Internet, Radio Svaboda reports.

The committee members are going to launch a series of events involving cultural figures of Ukraine and appeal to the authorities calling to allow broadcasting Ukrainian TV in Belarus. The members of the committee plan to send an appeal to the embassy of Ukraine on the occasion of the Constitution Day of Ukraine on June 27.

The activists also call on people to take part in a protest against the presence of Russian troops in Belarus and the participation of Russian paratroopers in the military parade on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus in the WWII.

The members of the committee of solidarity with Ukraine invite people to gather near the main post office on Friday June 27 to send protest postcards to the embassy of Russia and the Ministry of Defence of Belarus.

The Belarusian committee of solidarity with Ukraine was founded in March 2014. It unites representatives of opposition parties and civic initiatives as well as Belarusian defenders of the Maidan protests: Pavel Seviarynets, Aliaksei Marachkin, Aliaksei Yanukevich, Zmitser Dashkevich, Ihar Rynkevich, Hanna Shaputska and others.
